Privacy Policy

What AlignAlgo collects, what it never does with it, and how you export, delete, or revoke it — including how commercial suggestions work under "Ads only on your terms."

Working draft·Last updated August 12, 2026

What we collect

AlignAlgo is built around one idea: a graph of your taste, trust, and choices that belongs to you. That means what we collect is narrow and purposeful, not opportunistic:

  • Signals from how you use AlignAlgo's tools — the likes, ratings, routes, purchases you tell us about, and other choices you make inside the family of products (Move, Shop, Food, Communities, Coverage, Music, Maps, Finance, Heart) as each one comes online.
  • Your email address, when you join the waitlist, ask to be notified about a specific product, or sign the Own Your Algorithm pledge.
  • Basic technical information standard to any web app — browser type, coarse device info, and similar diagnostic data — used to keep the site working, not to build an advertising profile.

We do not run third-party ad trackers on this site or inside any AlignAlgo product. No ad-network pixels, no cross-site advertising cookies, no data broker tags.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell your data. Not to data brokers, not to advertisers, not to anyone — this isn't a policy we can quietly change later, it's the reason the product exists.
  • We do not run hidden ad brokering. Nothing on AlignAlgo is a paid placement dressed up to look like an organic recommendation. See "No pay-to-rank" in the Ads only on your terms explainer.
  • We do not hand your graph to third parties to build a profile of you outside AlignAlgo.

Your rights

Three rights sit at the center of this policy, and they're not new for the launch of this page — they're the promise the manifesto already made:

  • Export. The graph of what you've liked, trusted, and chosen is meant to be portable, not locked in. "Export and leave anytime" is a design commitment, not a footnote.
  • Delete. You can ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it.
  • Revoke. You can withdraw any consent you've given us — for a specific data use, a specific product's notifications, or everything — at any time.

Today, before self-serve tools exist for most of the family, all three are handled as a direct request rather than a button in a settings page. The Data Controls page walks through exactly how to ask, and is honest about what's self-serve today versus what's coming.

How commercial suggestions work

AlignAlgo's commercial layer runs on a dial, not a default. You can block commercial suggestions entirely and browse with none, forever — that mode isn't going anywhere. Or you can open the door on your own terms: Inform Me, Best Value only, Ethical only. Every commercial suggestion that does appear is labeled as one, can explain why it showed up, and can be dismissed or retuned. What never changes: no advertiser sits between you and your recommendations, and nobody can pay for a better slot. The full reasoning behind this — including why the promise is framed as user-controlled rather than an absolute ban — is in the manifesto explainer.

What's live right now

This site is primarily a pre-launch marketing and waitlist experience today. Align Heart is live at a separate site; the rest of the AlignAlgo family — Move, Shop, Food, Communities, Coverage, Music, Maps, Finance — is still in development, so most of the data practices above describe what we're committing to as each tool ships, not a fully live product surface yet.

AlignAlgo is a product line built by Expedia Solutions. As of this writing there's no separate legal entity formed specifically for AlignAlgo — it operates as a brand within Expedia Solutions. That structure may change as the product matures; this page will be updated if it does.

Children's privacy

AlignAlgo is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we've collected information from a child under 13 without the required consent, we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the "last updated" date above whenever this page changes. Once this policy is finalized by counsel and AlignAlgo has live users depending on it, material changes will be flagged more visibly — for example a site notice or an email — before they take effect, not just a silent edit to this page.
